  • my assignment is finished!
  • I’m feeling better today (I’ve been a bit off colour the past two days)
  • the sun is out again today
  • our house buy is moving along slowly (we’re expecting to receive the survey results next week)

thanks

Another list of things in my week that I’m grateful for.

  • returning to our car after getting lost on a tandem ride (a 12 mile ride became a 23 mile one!)
  • my body and mind holding up on the said tandem ride!
  • the sunshine and warmth we have (up until today) been blessed with
  • new relationships at the church on the hill
  • the books I got from my college library last week (they may be dull, but they contain some wisdom!)
  • lots of time to spend with my hubby (I know this will change when I start my new job, and he gets busy over the summer)

Thankfulness

April 24, 2008 · No Comments

These posts are great when I can’t think of anything else to post! Today I’m thankful for:

  • the tulips that have flowered in my back garden
  • the fact that our house buying is progressing (even if it does involve a boring appt this afternoon)
  • the way God has helped me to trust him this week, and shown me the next step in my walk with him
  • a patient husband
  • the time I spend working alongside him day by day, and the flexibility of my current job (I have to appreciate this while I can.)
  • the clothes I bought at a charity shop while on holiday - great finds

thankfulness

February 19, 2008 · No Comments

A little miffed about a work situation today, so instead of moaning, here’s what I’m thankful for today.

  • No injurys and lots of fun ice skating
  • A warm house to return home to
  • An evening in, with telly and books to amuse me.
  • Young People who do care about me, even though they don’t show it often.
  • The willpower to finish this post, turn the computer off, and leave it off till Thurs morning. I am now officially on my day off. I will not answer the phone, I will not go out unless I want to, I will veg to my hearts content!

thankfulness

I keep thinking about blogging live again. I want to shout about how I feel to the world. Most of the time I’m stressed, outraged, angry, you know, that kind of stuff. And then I think of what I have to be grateful for. Because although this year you could probably say I’ve had more bad emotions than good ones it’s not that my life is completely crap, just work is, and even in work there are some good things. So then I get to thinking about doing a thankfulness blog. So before I make any bold moves or decisions, I thought I’d start doing that here, probably once in a while. So here is thankfulness post number one!

  • a husband who even when is enjoying the best week of his year, will let me interrupt it with phonecalls and text messages.
  • volunteer leaders who seem truly thankful for my thankyous to them, and are willing to take on more responsibility.
  • Pretty tulips downstairs
  • the chance to have a quiet week, and cook all the food i love
  • that plans for my work at ’church on the hill’ are progressing well

Even though I can think of more things to be negative about, may I treasure these positives. Amen.

5 good things in my life right now

July 15, 2007 · No Comments

It’s nearing the end of term. In fact I have the last regular group meeting this evening, but then the summer events start, and I’m probably not as prepared for them as I should be.
So, instead of getting stressed by all the things I still have to do, I thought I’d list 5 things I’ve really appreciated this week.
1. A young person thanking me for all the effort I’ve put in over the year. (How often does that happen?)
2. My husband taking time to read a book with me, and helping me apply it to an area of my life I’m struggling with.
3. Seeing old friends for lunch on Friday.
4. The time to walk back from town yesterday, and just talk to God about stuff.
5. My husband putting up with my up and down moods and cheering me up when necessary!

Sometimes it’s important I (and probably all of us) take time to think about the good stuff and just appreciate it for a while.

good things about my life right now

April 14, 2007 · No Comments

1. Hubby is home, around this weekend, and it’s just great having him back again.
2. The sun is shining, the tree opposite my office window is blossoming, and I’m enjoying rediscovering my summer wardrobe!
3. I feel almost prepared for the two youth groups I’ve planned for tomorrow.
4. Despite not having much food in the house, Hubby and I are having fun trying to come up with meals to cook out of the remaining ingredients! Weekly food shop is Monday.
5. We rearranged the office this week so I now have two desks! One is for my work work and one is for my study work. This is because I hurt my back doing my last assginment on the sofa, and thought a desk where I can leave my study materials out rather than the coffee table might help!
6. I feel on top of work and feel like I have time to spare! This will probably change rapidly next week as groups start back and my next assignment deadline looms closer, but I’m enjoying it for now.
7. We’ve bought a house that we will let and are making progress on sorting all the landlord stuff out. We’ve even got tenants lined up!
8. My lunch is about ready! We’re having toad in the hole.

a strange week

March 18, 2006 · No Comments

It’s been a strange week. I moved my day off to allow myself to go to two meetings this week, which wasn’t a problem, but always feels weird. My diary sheet for the week had lots of time in it, and I had planned to use it to look at future events. But here I am on Saturday afternoon, having not looked at any of them! Though I have got a lot of other useful things done instead (which I had forgotten about and hadn’t put on my diary sheet!)
As I can’t think of anything interesting to share, here are just the highs and lows of my week!
Highs
- got interview for JNC course
- the God spot at youth club last night worked really well!
- the yummy lemon cake I made yesterday evening
- seeing my Dad back on the stage (and making me laugh as usual!)
Lows
- struggling to cope with / help my family
- not having done work I had hoped to
- generally getting stressed over nothing

smile…

January 12, 2005 · No Comments

‘Smile, it’s your turn to wash up!’

A slogan printed on a guiding (as in the girl guides) badge I had when I was younger. In fact I still have it.

I don’t know why it came to mind just then, a mixture of the chaos of the past few days, the tiredness and back pain I currently have!!!! Yes, I am about to go and do an hours work when I feel like going back to bed, so the reminder to smile is a good one.

After all, i’m alive, i have a good life, a wonderful husband and the sun is shining.

So whatever day you’re having - smile!!!!!

:-)
