There's a lot of work ahead

The weekend work – baking, gardening and making things. ALL FUN!

a day of celebration November 28, 2009

This week my certificate arrived, proving I really am now a qualified youth worker. So we went out to celebrate. We started by visiting a small farmers market. I enjoyed looking at the fresh food, hubby liked taking photos of the pigs! (They were quite cute huddling together for warmth.) Then we explored a couple of very different villages – one was picturesque and very english, the other was a new village that seemed to have a few old buildings within it being restored. Onto lunch at Frankie and Benny’s followed by watching Nativity at the cinema. It is a very enjoyable feel good film that has left me feeling that I am now ready for the first sunday of advent tomorrow.

Cookies and trifle have been the products of our kitchen this week. I’m busy planning what to bake for the christmas fair next week, and when to start on the mince pies! There’ll be other christmas cooking to be done too, but I’m waiting to see what my mum is planning to cook first. Christmas cake is already done, but will be iced when I finish work for the holidays.

Achieved November 7, 2009

  • mending the garage door (took us 5 hours, but only cost us £36 for parts
  • made a fabulous birthday cake for hubby
  • made the best tasting lasagne (also for hubby’s birthday)
  • 2 christmas songs found/adapted and recorded ready for the childrens christmas presentation
  • a very small fireworks display for the youth at church, held in our back garden
  • all jobs in the garden completed until next year! Everything planted and cleared!

Is it no wonder that I just want to sit and read a book?! Maybe tomorrow, when I’m not making my soup of the week or teaching children at church!
