There's a lot of work ahead

The weekend work – baking, gardening and making things. ALL FUN!

happy! September 21, 2007

Today I am really happy! Hubby has commented on how I keep singing and dancing all around the house! I think it is due to the fact I have probably had a good few nights sleep and I am ahead in my work for the first time in ages! I had finished preparing for today yesterday, and by the end of today I hope to have finished preparing for the weekend! No more panics, or last minute planning. I even had time yesterday afternoon to do some exercise! Life feels back to normal. (for a while anyway!) I might even have time to clean the house this afternoon! (I can’t remember the last time I did this either!)

baking marathon! September 20, 2007

Sunday lunch – orange and lemon steamed pudding! (I somehow managed to prepare this before church, steaming it as soon as we got back so we could eat it at 1pm)
Sunday afternoon – one batch of gingerbread men and women, one batch of cranberry oat cookies, one batch of mini jammy buns. All eaten by my youth group that evening!
Tuesday evening – Caramel Croissant Pudding. I’ve wanted to do this since seeing Nigella make it on TV three weeks ago. It was yummy.
Wednesday evening – Orange drizzle traybake. This is normally made with lemons, but we had two oranges, so we experimented. It’s ok, but not as good as the lemon.
Meanwhile, my healthy diet has gone out of the window and I really must go for a run or something this afternoon!

crazy week September 14, 2007

The end of my crazy week (actually the end of three crazy weeks) is in sight. I came back yesterday from time away with three young people who have left school and are embarking on Uni or gap years. It was great to spend some time with them, but it’s left me rather tired. I’ve got a long list of things left to do, including running a youth club for 11-14s tonight, sorting out our youth room (which has finally been re-carpeted after a flood in July), plenty of admin, writing a talk for Sunday and attending a friend’s wedding tomorrow!
I’ll collapse after youth group on Sunday night and then somehow make it through the staff meeting on Monday. Tuesday may be another stay at home and sleep day off! In fact, next week I should get back to my normal routine of preparing for groups and looking at my to do list to see what else needs doing! (I have been building a to do list for when my crazy weeks are over!) I have a quiet day planned in there as well, which is great as I can’t remember having a proper time with God this week! It will be nice to get back to working sensible hours again!

Time to celebrate September 8, 2007

Filed under: self — workahead @ 7:11 pm

Last night I went out for dinner with my family, to celebrate mine and my sisters birthdays. A good night, when somehow I ended up trying to finish three people’s puddings! Not a good end to my healthy week of avoiding dessert!
Today I’ve got a piece of work over that I’ve been dreading a bit. It wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be, but it could have been better. Glad it’s done.
I’ve just finished writing my assignment which is great. I’d better start thinking on the next one now!
And I’m about to go out to a hen night celebration. It’s partying all round this weekend! And when I’m not partying, I’m working!

The good and the bad September 3, 2007

Filed under: self — workahead @ 4:59 pm

Good

  • our year out assistant started work today
  • I really enjoyed Presence, a day of reflective practice with Mark Yaconelli
  • Hubby isn’t going to Magic Circle tonight (so we’re having a night in together!)
  • I think things are coming together for the beginning of term

Bad

  • I have a blocked tear duct that makes me look as if I’m always crying
  • I have an assignment that I’m bored with, but that still needs 500 words
  • the kitchen floor needs mopping
  • I don’t have a car this weekend, and it’s making my life difficult!
