I’m up early this morning as I had to take hubby to the station, he’s getting the train to Gatwick and then a plane to Edinburgh – more magic shows in Scotland! It’s strange having lots of time to play with on a Sunday morning. But very soon I’ll be at church, opening up for the childrens workers.
Yesterday was my birthday (number 27!) and it was a really nice day, even if I was supposed to be working. Some old friends popped by in the morning, I made a batch of chocolate brownies, bought a magic trick for hubby, and then had a lovely birthday meal with my parents and inlaws. A nice relaxed day in which I did one out of six hours work! Looks like I’ll be working monday to make up the hours! Hubby and I have done a deal as far as birthday presents this year. We’ve decided that I can buy books, and he can buy magic stuff. We haven’t set a price limit yet, we’re waiting to see what text books I’ll need for my course. I will of course be buying some books for pleasure too!
Our Time For God worker arrived Thursday, and so a lot of my work time is being spent with him at the moment. It’s hard finding things for him to do! I’m hoping that by half term he’ll be trained up enough to do a lot by himself. This is my first experience of having a year out worker, and I can already tell it won’t always be easy!
One last thing, the son of one of my parents friends is travelling the world. He has a cool website. http://www.phileasblog.net check it out.

back from hols August 19, 2006
Today is kinda the last day of my summer hols. From tomorrow, I’m back to normal work, normal days off plus the upcoming bank holiday of course. And I’m actually looking forward to getting stuck into work again.
We spent a few days in Cornwall, visiting beaches, monkey sanctuarys and a dreadful model village (compared to one we saw on the isle of wight.) On return, we took the tandem for a ride near Polsden Lacey (National Trust Property) which we also visited. Before heading off to Soul Survivor, we managed to fit in a visit to Chartwell (NT again) Winston Churchill’s family home and a BBQ at my parents. Soul Survivor was good. The young people managed to cook for themselves (just!) and enjoyed chillin out with each other, as well as with God. God really encouraged me during the week, something that I hope will stay with me. Returning exhausted and sending hubby off to Windemere, I had a few days to myself to do the many loads of washing and one day of work to complete some admin. Then it was off to the Sisters of St Andrew in Edenbridge for a two day retreat. I spent my first day evaluating the past year, and was amazed at how much God had done, despite my negativity and mistakes! The second day was spent praying for this next year. And I’ve returned with renewed enthusiasm, passion and energy, as well as a long to do list!
And that brings me back to today, my last day off of the summer, which I’m spending cleaning the house! (Well it’s not been done all summer!)
Roll on September! (but not too fast, I’ve still got lots to do before then!)
