There's a lot of work ahead

The weekend work – baking, gardening and making things. ALL FUN!

2006 approaches December 31, 2005

Hope a good Christmas was had by all. Hubby and I were exhausted after two days of the family. It is an advantage having family live close by, but having to see them all on both christmas day and boxing day ended up being rather tiring! Both families just kept feeding us! Tuesday was spent in pyjamas, on the sofa, doing nothing but watching tv and DVDs. Now recovered, we’ve been working- Steve developing new tricks, and I’ve been writing the sessions for the youth weekend away.

So what are your new years resolutions? I’ve five personal goals for 2006, and I’ve already begun one of them, actually one and a half!
1. To have started a JNC qualification
2. To eat healthily and exercise three times a week (including joining a tap class)
3. To see my family once a month
4. To meet with God every day (and not just go through the routine)
5. To pray every day for the young people and the work (rather than when I remember!)

I’m looking forward to 2006, especially the middle of January, when hubby and I go on holiday just three days after the youth weekend away!

Happy New Year

a quiet christmas? December 21, 2005

All the Christmas meetings are over, just services to attend now. I’m not taking any time off over Christmas, just the bank holidays. I’m hoping it will be a quiet christmas, work wise – a january weekend away to plan, planning for the next term, and just getting on top of stuff – but without the usual pressure!
We’ll be spending time with our respective families on Christmas Day and Boxing Day, but that’s it. A nice quiet Christmas, with time for sleep, quiet and a bit of work thrown in too!
Have a good one!

weekend of partying! December 16, 2005

Tonight is the Friday night youth group’s Christmas Outing. We’re going to see The Chronicles of Narnia. There are 24 young people coming, and I don’t want to think about how much it’s costing! I’ll sort the expenses out later!

Tomorrow is to be spent making mince pies and making stars! I have the 14-18s youth group coming over for mince pies after the carol service this sunday evening. I reckon I need at least another four batches making! (I’ve been making one batch of 12 each day since Tuesday) The stars are for the 11-14s Christmas party on Sunday morning. I’ve just made the pass the parcel this morning, and I also need to practise making origami stars which I will be showing them all.

Sunday – well, there’s the two parties to enjoy!

Panto! December 14, 2005

Hubby surprised me last night with tickets to our local panto. It was Cinderella with Stephen Mulhern as Buttons and Danny La Rue as the Fairy Godmother. It was an enjoyable evening, but only because Stephen Mulhern was such a star. He was very entertaining, and held the show together. Danny La Rue has obviously passed his sell by date, and his performances were endured rather than enjoyed. The highlight was a five year old boy from the audience who when asked “Is your wife with you or at home?” answered “at home” The questions continued, and it turned out he had been married two years and had one child! He was a star and had Stephen Mulhern in fits of laughter on the stage!!!!

BUSY, BUSY, BUSY! December 8, 2005

Had my three month review at work this week – went really well. I’m happy, their happy, everyone’s happy!
I’ve been really busy the past few days – hence I haven’t posted for a few days! Yesterday was my day off – the only day that hasn’t been busy! But I make a point of not turning my laptop on when I’m off work, the temptation to check email and work is too much! So I spent the day reading! In fact I read one whole book, couldn’t put it down. It wasn’t a literary masterpiece, just a bit of chic lit, but I enjoyed it! I do usually do something more interesting on my days off, but hubby and I had different days off this week, so not only did I have a day of nothing yesterday, but all evenings / mornings we have together this week have become more precious and therefore busy!
Anyway, had better get on and prepare for the second of two evenings in with my husband this week! (when he eventually gets home!)
